Story
Alopecia Areata is an auto-immune condition which causes hair loss on the scalp and body. It effects men, women and children, and currently has no cure.
Alopecia can be a lifelong condition, and can deeply affect self-image, self-esteem, confidence and even mental health. But there is hope. The Australia Alopecia Areata Foundation believe that through personal support, improved awareness, and ongoing research toward an acceptable treatment, we can help improve the lives of people living with Alopecia Areata and their families. You can help too. By donating or fundraising for AAAF, you can help achieve our mission.
Your investment today will provide hope to someone in need. It doesn’t take much to make a difference:
- $5 can go towards providing class room discussions at schools
- $25 can go towards supporting someone just diagnosed about this disease and linking them into a community network
- $50 can aid in creating resources to help a child educate a potential bully
- $400 can provide the funds to help a family purchase a wig for their child with Alopecia Areata
- $500 can help a researcher to go one step further towards finding a cure or acceptable treatment for Alopecia Areata
AAAF is 100% community funded. We receive no government support, and rely on the generosity of our community in order to provide ongoing support, funding for research and awareness campaigns to help improve the lives of people living with Alopecia Areata.
Australia Alopecia Areata Foundation Inc
Australia Alopecia Areata Foundation Inc. (AAAF), is established to be the national Australia body supporting research to find a cure or acceptable treatment for all forms of Alopecia Areata, support those with the disease and their families, and inform the public about all forms of Alopecia Areata.
Our Service philosophy is to give each person the best chance of managing their alopecia journey positively, the whole family and each individual needs to be supported to manage their unique experience. By reducing the financial and emotional stress and enabling children, young people, adults and their support networks to develop their strengths and skills, AAAF assists the whole family to achieve that positive journey.
